The Election Commission of India has directed the Returning Officer of the bye-poll bound Munugode Assembly Constituency, to immediately issue the modified Form 7A re-allotting the ‘Road Roller’ symbol to K Shiva Kumar of Yuga Thulasi party. The Commission also asked RO, Jagannadha Rao, to give an explanation for the lapses in the allotment of election symbols in Munugode Bye-election and for not following the directions of the ECI. The RO was also asked to explain why he changed the allotment of symbols by using non-existing powers to him. The ECI has issued a letter to Chief Electoral Officer, Vikas Raj to this extent.The Returning Officer allotted the free symbols on October 18 to all the candidates who are contesting the by-polls. Yuga Thulasi Party candidate Shiva Kumar had chosen the road roller symbol from the free symbols through the lottery. On raising objections by the ruling TRS, on allotting the road roller symbol to any other candidate, independent candidate, the Returning Officer changed the symbol to a “baby-walker” to the candidate without giving any information.
