Archery World Cup Stage 1: India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam And Abhishek Verma Storm Into Compound Mixed Team Final

In Archery, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma stormed into the compound mixed team final at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai on Friday. In a close match, the world No.2 Indians triumphed over their Mexican opponents, Andrea Becerra and Lot Maximo Ortiz, 155-151. Vennam and Verma will face the lower-ranked Estonian siblings, Robin Jaatma and Lisell Jaatma in the final clash tomorrow. Jyothi is already in the hunt for a hat-trick of top podium finishes as she has advanced to the women’s compound section final and the Semi-final of the individual section earlier.
 

In women’s recurve category, three time Olympian, India’s Deepika Kumari advanced to the semifinals today. The former world number one defeated Korean Jeon Hunyoung, 6-4, in the quarterfinal. Deepika will face the seventh seeded Nam Suhyeon of South Korea in the semifinal.
 
 

While in mixed recurve, the fourth-seeded Indian duo of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara faced a defeat against the top-seeded Korean duo of Lim and Kim Woojin in straight sets 0-6, in the Semi-final. They will fight for bronze against Mexico.
