At Least 155 People Killed In Tanzania Due To Floods And Landslides Caused By Heavy Rains

At least 155 people have lost their lives as a result of flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains in Tanzania. In an address at the Parliament, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said that the current rainy season has been made worse by the El Nino climate pattern, which has resulted in flooding and the destruction of roads, bridges, and railroads. The Prime Minister said, more than 200,000 people and 51,000 households were affected by the rains. Flooded schools were closed and emergency services were rescuing people marooned by the floodwaters.
