CAPF And Manipur Forces Conduct Combing Ops In Manipur’s Bishnupur District

A combined team of Central Armed Police Force and Manipur Forces conducted mass search and combing operation in the nearby hill ranges of Naranseina Village under Bishnupur district on Saturday and recovered arms and ammunition. The operation was conducted after armed miscreants attacked the CRPF Post stationed at Naranseina Villages past midnight which claimed the lives of a Sub Inspector and a Head Constable. The CRPF jawan of B Company of the 128 Battalion was posted there to protect nearby villagers from armed miscreants after group clashes erupted in the State last year.
 
During the combing operation, the security forces recovered four rifles, two Chinese Hand Grenade, 145 live rounds of ammunition, 197 empty cases, 32 projectiles, a walkie-talkie set and others. The security forces also destroyed three bunkers installed by the miscreants in the hill ranges.
 
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh condemned the incident of attack on security forces and said that those culprits will be booked under the laws and given befitting punishment. In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that such action towards dedicated central forces who work tirelessly day and night to uphold peace and stability in the State is an act of cowardice.
 
The State Security Advisor of Manipur and former Chief of CRPF- Kuldeep Singh also condemned the act perpetuated by the armed miscreants. During a ceremony held to pay tribute to the CRPF jawans who sacrificed their lives, Mr Singh said that the miscreants responsible for this attack will be punished according to laws.
