In IPL Cricket, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru, RCB, by one run in a last-ball thriller at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Chasing a target of 223 runs, RCB were bowled out for 221 in the stipulated 20 overs. RCB could score only 19 runs when they needed 21 off the final over. Andre Russell has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-around performance. Russel scored 27 runs off 20 balls in the first innings and claimed three crucial wickets in the second.
Earlier, put in to bat first, Kolkata posted 222 runs for six in 20 overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer made 50 off 36 while opener Philip Salt scored 48 off just 14 deliveries. For Bengaluru, Cameron Green and Yash Dayal took two wickets each. Currently, Kolkata stands second in the points table, while RCB at the bottom.
The other match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans is underway at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. Opting to bat first, Punjab Kings were 74 for 3 in 10 overs, a short while ago.
