In Jharkhand, campaigning for the fifth phase of polling in Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seats and the by-poll in Gandey legislative assembly seat will conclude at 5 pm today. Polling will be held on Monday i.e. 20th of this month. There are a total of 54 candidates in the fray for the fifth phase polling in the three parliamentary constituencies of Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh.
Akashvani’s correspondent reports that election paraphernalia is being taken at the remotest corners of the state by the polling parties amid tight security from today onwards. Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, K. Ravi Kumar has said that there has been an increase in the number of candidates contesting the Lok Sabha polls this year as compared to the one in 2019. He said, in 2019, there were 229 candidates in the fray, whereas, this year 244 candidates are contesting the polls.
