The Election Commission has directed Delhi Chief Electoral Officer to ensure that no campaign material without having the names and addresses of the printer and publisher is circulated or fixed. In a letter to the Delhi CEO, Election Commission said strict and swift action must be taken to take down or confiscate such election material. The poll body said it has received representations from various stake holders including political parties regarding election hoardings at authorized and unauthorized sites in the NCT of Delhi, which do not bear on its face the names and addresses of the printer and the publisher. EC said this is in violation of the electoral laws and provisions of Model Code of Conduct. The poll body asked Delhi CEO to sensitise all concerned officers and authorities to be more vigilant in the field to ensure that no such anonymous campaign material is circulated.
