Kavin Karthik: From Google to OpenAI

Kavin Karthik, an alumnus of IIT-Madras and a former Google engineer, has recently announced his transition to OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT. This move comes after a decade-long tenure at Google, where he was recruited straight out of college.

During his time at Google, Karthik described it as a ‘crucible of growth and innovation’ that shaped his 20s. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside phenomenal leaders and teammates.

In his new role at OpenAI, Karthik aims to focus on “harnessing the transformative power of AI with ChatGPT,” signaling a commitment to advancing artificial intelligence technologies.

OpenAI’s President and Co-founder, Greg Brockman, extended a warm welcome to Karthik. The news of Karthik’s move sparked congratulations from several users, wishing him success in his new endeavor.

Karthik’s journey from IIT-Madras to Google and now to OpenAI mirrors his exceptional career trajectory. In 2013, he was among three IITians offered a remarkable Rs 92 lakh salary placement by Google, showcasing his talent and potential.
