On the third day of her tour of Himachal Pradesh, President Droupadi Murmu attended the seventh convocation ceremony of the Central University of Dharamshala as the chief guest today. During the event, she honoured meritorious students with gold medals and degrees. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Governor of the State, Shiv Pratap Shukla. Thirty meritorious students from various departments were awarded gold medals, 11 scholars were conferred with doctoral degrees, and 709 students were conferred with degrees.
Akashwani correspondent reports that President Droupadi Murmu emphasised the crucial role of youth in realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Addressing the convocation ceremony at the Central University of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, she called for integrating research efforts with the Make in India and startup programmes. On this occasion, the President awarded gold medals and degrees to meritorious students of the university. Expressing satisfaction at the higher number of female students receiving gold medals and degrees, she praised the determination of daughters who have overcome various obstacles with their resolve. President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, on being conferred with an honorary doctorate by the Central University of Himachal Pradesh. She said that the land of Himachal is known for its natural beauty, and she feels a sense of joy in the environment here. The President emphasised the need to protect and conserve natural resources to maintain the State’s ecology and environment. She also urged students to make compassion, dedication to duty, and empathy the ideals of their lives. She said that the purpose of education is to instil awareness of one’s culture, tradition, and civilisation among students. President Murmu said when students learn independently without any stress, their creativity and imagination soar. Before this, President Murmu also performed puja-archana at the famous Shaktipeeth Chamunda Temple. President Droupadi Murmu is currently on a five-day tour of Himachal Pradesh. On the fourth day of her tour, she will also participate in the cultural programme at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla. The President’s programme is to return to Delhi on the 8th of May.
