Today was the day for high profile nominations in Uttar Pradesh. Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP candidate and former Minister in Maharashtra government Kripa Shankar Singh and Senior party leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani filed their nominations today.
Rajnath Singh filed his nomination from Lucknow parliamentary constituency. He is contesting third time from this constituency. Senior BJP leader and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath accompanied him during nomination. Prior to the nomination, Rajnath Singh held a mega road show in Lucknow.
Another BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani filed her nomination from Amethi. Senior BJP leader and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Yadav accompanied her along with other senior party leaders during nomination.
Last time in 2019, Smriti Irani defeated then Congress president Rahul Gandhi from this seat. Speculations are rife that Rahul Gandhi will contest again from this seat and the announcement will be made anytime today or tomorrow.
Former Minister in Maharashtra government Kripa Shankar Singh filed his nomination from Jaunpur seat in state.
Many opposition candidates also filed their nominations today.
BSP candidate Ravi Prakash Maurya from Amethi constituency filed his nomination. Samajwadi Party and Congress alliance candidate from Allahabad Loksabha constituency Ujjwal Raman Singh also filed his nomination today. Another candidate from the alliance Ajendra Singh Rajput filed his nomination from Hamirpur Loksabha seat.
