Five medical students of SRM Tiruchirappalli drowned due to sudden high tides in the sea at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.  The medical students, who went to attend their friend’s wedding at Kanyakumari, had been to the Beach to cool off their heels when a giant wave swept them off their feet. The students were trainee doctors. One of the students hailed from Andhra Pradesh and the rest were from various districts of Tamilnadu.

Yesterday too a five-year-old girl and her father drowned because of the high tides. Earlier, a warning was issued by INCOIS, the Regional Met Department and the State Government that there would be a sudden rise in seawater levels due to a water level increase in the South Atlantic Ocean.
