Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that so much work has been done for social justice in the last ten years compared to the sixty years of rule of the Congress. He was addressing an election rally to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Solapur Lok Sabha constituency in Solapur today. He alleged that Congressmen have worked to deprive the Scheduled Castes and other backward classes of their rights. Commenting on the reservation of STs and OBCs, the Prime Minister said that the reservation of these communities will be given as much strength as possible and alleged that Congress is planning to give reservation marked for these communities to minorities. Refuting the charges of the opposition that BJP government will change the constitution and finish the reservation, Mr. Modi opined that it would not have been possible even for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar had he been here today hence there is no question of Modi changing the constitution. Asserting that his government has not taken away anyone’s rights he said that our method of social justice is to connect with the community. Now anyone can become a doctor, engineer by studying in Marathi medium. Even if you don’t know English, you can run the country, this is Modi’s dream, he said. Mr. Modi started his speech in Marathi saying “माझ्या प्रिय सोलापूरकरांना मनापासून नमस्कार, जय जय राम कृष्ण हरी. सोलापूरचं ग्रामदैवत श्री सिद्धेश्वर यांच्या चरणी नतमस्तक होतो” [My heartfelt greetings to the Solapureans, Jai Jai Ram Krishna Hari, I bow at the feet of Shri Siddheshwar, the village deity of Solapur.]
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Modi was gifted Solapuri chadar on this occasion.
