Sri Lanka’s Department Of Meteorology Issues A Heat Index Advisory For 7 Of 9 Provinces On Island

Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology has issued a Heat Index Advisory for seven of the nine provinces on the island. As per the advisory, the Heat index, which is the temperature felt on the human body, is expected to increase up to ‘Caution level’. The met department has also advised people to remain hydrated to avoid heat cramps.
 

The high temperatures are forecast to persist across the island through at least 8th of May, with the peak temperatures over 39 degrees Celsius expected in pockets of northern and eastern Sri Lanka over the coming days.
