Indian High Commissioner Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi In Sri Lanka

High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, who is on an official visit to the Eastern Province paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Batticaloa in Sri Lanka today. Mr. Jha said that the ferry services between Nagapattinam in India and Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka would resume soon. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has said that the service would resume from 13th of May with a price reduction.
Replying to a question by the local media regarding the construction of a land connectivity bridge between Sri Lanka and India, the High Commissioner said that India is working with the Sri Lankan government on the project. He said that the first round of negotiations has ended and the two countries are moving towards next stages which will have a detailed project report.
