Odisha continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions throwing normal life out of gear. People chose to remain indoors during the peak hours, particularly pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists who ventured out due to some important work were seen taking measures to save themselves from the scorching heat.
 
Industrial city of Angul recorded 44.7 degree Celsius, the highest this season in Odisha, followed by state capital Bhubaneswar which recorded 44.6 and Baripada 44.2 degree Celsius virtually turning all the cities into hot cauldrons. Fourteen cities in the state also recorded more than 43 degree Celsius. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for Bhubaneswar for the next two days.
 
According to the IMD, the heatwave is likely to continue for the next four days in Odisha. During these days, some districts in north Odisha and western interior Odisha may cross the 45 degrees Celsius mark, prompting the IMD to issue a red warning for some districts.
