To make the general public aware of Cyber Crime, J&K Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district organized a Cyber Awareness cum Cyber Jagrukta programme at Police Station Qaimoh. The programme was attended by respectable citizens of Redwani, Khudwani, Qaimoh, Wanpoh and its adjacent areas. The main motive behind conducting such a programme is to provide awareness of cyber fraud among the general public, particularly students. The officer briefed the participants about various types of cyber threats/ activities viz Identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyberstalking, humiliation of girls, phishing etc. The chairing officer also advised the participants especially students to be aware while surfing the internet and not to fall prey to cyber criminals. He also appealed to them to spread awareness regarding the risks associated with digital transactions and social media applications.
Later, the participants appreciated the efforts of the Police for organising “Cyber Awareness Programmes” and making the general public aware of the cybercrimes.
