Israeli Military Intelligence Chief Resigns After Hamas Attack

Share on:

The head of Israel’s military intelligence, Maj Gen Aharon Haliva has resigned today over the failures surrounding Hamas’s unprecedented attack on seven October, becoming the first senior figure to step down after the deadliest assault in Israel’s history.

Haliva’s resignation sets the stage for what’s expected to be more fallout from Israel’s top security brass over Hamas’ attack, when Hamas gunmen breached the Gaza border fence and attacked nearby Israeli communities, military bases and a music festival. Around 1200 people, mostly civilians were killed and roughly 250 others were taken back to Gaza as hostages.

Israel responded by launching its most intense ever war in Gaza.
