India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured a hat-trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai on Saturday. The world No. 3 archer emerged victorious after a fiercely contested final against the top seed, Andrea Becerra of Mexico. Earlier in the women’s compound team final, Jyothi, along with Aditi Swami and Parneet Kaur outclassed the sixth-seeded Italy, 236-225. While in the compound mixed team final, Jyothi, together with her partner Abhishek Verma, defeated the Estonian twins, 158-157 to win the Gold medal.
In Men’s Individual Compound event, India’s Priyansh secured the Silver medal this afternoon. The archer lost the final 147-150 to Austria’s Nico Wiener to finish as runner-up.
Earlier in Men’s Compound team final this morning, the team of Abhishek Verma, Priyansh and Prathamesh Fuge beat the Netherlands, 238-231, making a clean sweep of compound team events.
