Congress Candidate Sucharita Mohanty Returns Ticket Citing Lack Of Financial Support From AICC

The Congress candidate from the Puri parliamentary constituency in Odisha, Sucharita Mohanty, has returned her ticket citing a lack of financial support from the All India Congress Committee (AICC). She also expressed her disappointment with the party’s inability to provide the necessary funds for her electoral campaign. The Congress nominee had recently launched a crowdfunding campaign, seeking donations from the public to finance her election bid as the AICC’s bank accounts were reportedly frozen by the Income Tax Department.

In a letter to AICC General Secretary (Organization), KC Venugopal, She said some of the seats in the seven assembly segments under the Puri parliamentary constituency, winnable candidates have not been given the ticket. Instead, some weak candidates got the ticket for which it would not be possible for her to win the election.

BJP’s spokesman Sambit Patra and former IPS officer Arup Patnaik of BJD are contesting from Puri parliamentary constituency.
