Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Dairying, Animal Husbandry and Information and Broadcasting Dr. L Murugan yesterday, October 27 visited Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Central Government’s Public Outreach Programme. The Minister is on a two-day visit to the Union Territory.Mr Murugan will also attend the valedictory programme at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) at Srinagar today. He will also review a meeting with the zonal officials of Doordarshan, All India Radio, Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication at Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar.AIR Correspondent Reports, during his review meeting with the officials of the district administration Kulgam, the Union Minister stated that the holistic development of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is the top priority of the Central Government. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative of public outreach to assess the execution of developmental projects and the implementation of various welfare schemes at the ground level.
The Union Minister said that the government is focussed towards the improvement and modernisation of the tourism sector in Kulgam district which will serve as a measure of employment generation and economic upliftment of the region. The Minister took part in a series of events and activities during the extensive public outreach programme and visited different sites besides taking stock of the developmental scenario of the district.Today the Union Minister is scheduled to interact with members of DDCs, BDCs, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and beneficiaries of various government schemes apart from making the inspection of various departmental stalls established at the Mini Secretariat in Kulgam.
