Heavy rain was reported in parts of Kerala last evening. The northern districts of the state, however, received moderate rainfall in some places.   Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed across Idukki district, inundating several low lying areas. Landslides and widespread loss were reported. The authorities have banned night travel in the district.
