The Seetha Amman temple in Sri Lanka’s Seetha Eliya is ready for Sunday’s (19th May 2024) Kumbhabhishekam. A rath which was flagged off Friday (17 May 2024) morning from Colombo reached the Seetha Amman Temple, bringing in about 25 litres of holy Saryu water, which was flown from Ayodhya. Apart from this, 5000 laddoos have been brought from Tirumala Tirupati Temple as well. On the occasion, devotees from several parts of India and Nepal have reached Seetha Eliya. Several devotees are lining up at the temple for paying their respects. Seetha Eliya or Ashok Vatica is believed to be the location where Goddess Sita was kept hostage by Ravana. Earlier, the Seetha temple had contributed a sacred shila or stone in the construction of Ram Lalla temple at Ayodhya.
