Sri Lanka’s State Minister for Power and Energy, D V Chanaka has said that India was the saviour of the island nation during the economic crisis. Speaking exclusively to our Special Correspondent, the minister recalled the generous assistance provided by India to Sri Lanka at the peak of the crisis. Mr. Chanaka added that India and Lanka IOC, helped Sri Lanka in resumption of fuel supply. The Minister further said that Trincomalee in the eastern province has been identified as the future energy hub. He said that Sri Lanka aims to develop a refinery in the eastern city, and looks forward to work closely with India.
