Union Minister V.K Singh appeals to Tamilnadu govt to provide 10.7 acres of land for setting up of regional airport at Vellore

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation V.K Singh has appealed to the Tamilnadu Government to provide 10.7 acres of land for the setting up of a regional airport under the UDAAN Scheme at Vellore.Speaking to the reporters at Vellore after reviewing projects on Friday, the Minister said that the airport at Abdullapuram has been handling air traffic services for the past two years but needs to be more modernised. He said that the capacity should be increased to handle smaller aircrafts from Chennai and Bangalore as Vellore is a hub for higher education and medical services. The Minister said that the airport authority is also availing the technological inputs from the students of the Vellore Institute of Technology for setting up the airport.
