Union Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurates sixth edition of Ganga Utsav in New Delhi

Union Minister for Culture, Tourism & DoNER, G. Kishan Reddy, said that a coordinated effort is  need of the hour with full determination and commitment to keep Ganga clean.Inaugurating the sixth edition of Ganga Utsav 2022 in New Delhi in the presence of MoS Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs  Bishweswar Tudu and other officials, the Minister said, Ganga is  a mother to all of us so it’s our collective responsibility to clean it.Talking about the conservation of rivers, he said rivers are absolutely necessary to human existence, they must be preserved. He added that river Ganga provides lots of employment opportunities especially to those 40 percent of Indian population who are living beside the Ganga. He urged the people to create awareness about the river conservation including Ganga.Speaking about Ganga Utsav 2022, Mr Reddy said it’s a good initiative by the Jal Ministry but at the same time these awareness programmes must reach to every nook and corner of the country.Highlighting the importance of the river Ganga MoS Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs  Bishweswar said, Government is making all out efforts to clean Ganga and projects like Namami Ganga, is a real example in front of us.The Ganga Utsav 2022,  is being developed as a model for River Festivals with the aim to connect people to the rivers and inculcate its importance.One of the main objectives of Ganga Utsav 2022 is to celebrate our rivers and spread awareness on the significance of river rejuvenation across river basins in India.Dedicated to the 75 years of Indian Independence, the event is taking place simultaneously  at more than 75 locations in various states to establish a connection with the locals, and promote Namami Gange as a mass movement.
