Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today said that Government is moving ahead in making India a hub of medical tourism. Addressing the gathering after inaugurating Dr. Vikhe Patil Radiation and Cancer Centre Nuclear Medicine Centre (PET Scan) in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, he said, the signing of the MoUs will greatly benefit the young doctors who will be able to find jobs in other parts of the world. Dispelling the notion of what will happen when lot many young doctors will pass out year after year from medical colleges after the increase in medical seats, he said, the government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap that will enable doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and para-medic staff to get jobs in another part of the world. Elucidating on this, he said, MoUs which will be country-to-country centric, country-to-company-centric, country-to-hospital centric and hospital-to-hospital-centric will be signed.Mr. Mandaviya said that since independence health was looked from the standpoint of mere treatment. However, it got a fillip after the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014. He said that Mr. Modi took the initiative in linking health with development. Mandaviya said, when health is not linked to development the country cannot prosper.He also said that when the people of the country and its society are healthy it can build an ideal country.The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister also said that one lakh 25 thousand health and wellness centres have been built and remaining 25 thousand will be built by December this year.
