Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today visited the flood-affected areas of Shravasti and Balrampur districts of Tarai region today. He also met with the flood victims and asked about the relief provided to them by the administration.
Meanwhile, the army has been called in for help in rescue and relief operation in Saharanpur district. Central Surya command sent two columns to Shahjahanpur for help in rescue work. There are more than 264 people trapped in the current of Garra and khannaut rivers. Meanwhile, 633 villages of 12 districts including Lakhimpur Khiri, Sitapur Pilibhit Shravasti, Balrampur, Basti, Barabanki, Gonda, Ballia, Siddharth Nagar, Shahjahanpur Kushinagar are reeling under the flood fury. Thousand acres of agricultural land is inundated in water due to flood and around 8 lakh people are affected. The rail route connecting Mailani junction to Gonda has submerged under the water while the Elgin road bridge connecting Barabanki to Gonda, Bahraich and other Nepal bordering districts has developed cracks. More than 10 thousand people have been shifted to secure locations by the rescue and relief teams.
