Tripura has announced to commence its annual subsidised paddy procurement programme for the Rabi season from 15th of this month.
State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the initiative, which began in December 2018, aims to support farmers financially in the state. He said, the state government has set a target of 16,000 metric tonnes of paddy at 2183 rupees per quintal.
The programme will continue till 31st of next month, with 35 crore rupees reimbursed by the central government and 10 crore rupees from the state treasury for operational costs. He added that 31 temporary procurement centers will be set up for this programme.
