Five women were killed on the spot after the Eicher hit the women who were waiting for the vehicle to go home. All seven women were working as farm labourers. The remaining two women were seriously injured and the local volunteers rushed and hospitalised them. Both are under medical observation.
The accident took place on Pandharpur-Karad road near Chikamhood in Sangola taluka of Solapur district in Maharashtra around 4:30 pm on Tuesday. After information was received about the accident, police and ambulance reached the spot and started further investigation.
