The people of Telangana are celebrating its formation day today while the state Government has made elaborate arrangements for the day-long decennial celebrations on a grand scale. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will address the people of the state from the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad after hoisting the national flag and receiving the guard of honour from the armed police forces. The state Official song will be released at the programme. Before that, the Chief Minister will pay floral tributes to Telangana martyrs, who sacrificed their lives to the cause of Telangana state, at the Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park.
A cultural extravaganza and display of fireworks will be held on Hussain Sagar at Tank-Bund in the evening. Meanwhile, the main opposition party BRS has taken up a three-day programme to mark the occasion yesterday. Former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao paid homage to the martyrs at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park last evening and led a candle light march till the Amara Jyothi memorial at Tank Bund. Meanwhile, Governor CP Radhakrishnan extended wishes to the people of Telangana on its formation day. He said in a message that it is a heartfelt reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by countless youths in the pursuit of a separate state and he offered tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana movement for their unwavering dedication.
Stating that the struggle for statehood witnessed spirited participation from all sections of society, the governor is confident that the aspirations and hard work of the people, employees, leaders, and policymakers will continue to protect Telangana’s unique identity and secure its rightful share of resources and opportunities. The Chief Minister and leaders of various parties have extended wishes to the people on the occasion.
