Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today assured that the Government will take strong action against those found guilty in Kallakurichi incident. In a statement in the Assembly today, he said that the Government will act on the report by the One man Commission in two days. The Chief Minister said that the Government would take care of the education of the children who lost either one or both the parents. He said that in addition to the ex gratia of 10 lakh rupees, the Government would pay for their education and also deposit 5 lakh rupees which will be given with interest when they attain 18 years of age. An amount of 5000/- ruppes will be paid every month as they will be under the care of their guardian. He also said that a child who has lost one of the parents will be paid 3 lakh rupees as fixed amount and it would be returned with interest at 18 years of age. He also said that they would be admitted in hostels of their choice. The Chief Minister also listed the various steps taken against the officials at Kallakurichi after the hooch tragedy. Mr. Stalin said that medical assistance to the affected were rendered immediately by sending 57 doctors from five districts to assist the already existing 161 doctors at Kallakurichi Government Hospital to tackle the challenge immediately. The Chief Minister said that 200 litres of methanol was seized from the main culprit Govindaraj. He said that the investigations revealed that methanol was brought from Puducherry.
