Newly elected BJP Legislature Party leader and current Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar this evening and staked claim to form the next government in the state. Subsequently, the Governor invited him to form the new government.
Earlier in the afternoon, in the BJP Legislature Party meeting, Khandu was unanimously elected as the leader of the party legislature. Central Observers of the BJP, Ravi Shankar Prasad and its national general secretary Tarun Chugh were present in the meeting.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister will be held at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre in Itanagar tomorrow. The CM and his Council of Ministers will take oath at 11 am in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda, senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh.
