Under the banner of “Serving Those Who Served Us,” a significant gathering of over 500 ex-servicemen from West Bengal and neighboring states convened in Kalimpong, West Bengal, for the Mega Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Rally. Hosted by the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles on May 18, 2024, the event aimed to honor and connect with veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation.
Lt. Gen. P.C. Nair, DG Assam Rifles, presided over the event as the Chief Guest, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of both retired and serving soldiers in safeguarding the security and prosperity of the North-East region and the nation as a whole.
The rally provided a platform to apprise veterans of various beneficiary schemes, including recruitment opportunities in Assam Rifles, educational reservations, healthcare benefits such as Ayushman Bharat and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) extension, and the establishment of Ex-Servicemen Cells at every unit level.
