Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh visited the flood affected areas in Imphal city and interacted with the rescue workers and affected families. Shri Biren visited Singjamei and its surrounding areas to inspect the rescue and relief operations going on since early morning. The area has been inundated after a breach of the river bank of Imphal river. The affected families have been rescued along with the household items by the security forces and village volunteers from the area.
While speaking to the media persons during the visit, the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the government has taken necessary measures to assist the affected families while the preparations are underway to tackle and address any eventualities. He also appealed to people to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities for any issues and challenges.
The Meteorological Centre, IMD Imphal forecasts that heavy to very heavy rainfalls is likely to occur in Manipur for the coming five days. The forecast issue this afternoon said that thunderstorms and lightning may be incurred in some parts of Manipur in the coming three days.
