In Kerala, a special cabinet meeting of the state government, held in the wake of the Kuwait fire mishap, has decided to pay a solatium of five lakh rupees each to the victims from the state and one lakh rupees each to those injured.
A couple of Non-Resident Keralite businessmen have also decided to contribute an additional amount.
Akashvani Correspondent reports, 24 persons hailing from the state have lost their lives in the fire mishap, while seven injured are in serious condition.
Several victims hail from Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts of the state.
A special cabinet meeting convened in Thiruvananthapuram this morning, decided to rush state Health Minister Veena George to Kuwait , to coordinate efforts to provide treatment facilities to the injured and to bring home bodies of the victims.
The meeting also expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. The state government has opened a round the clock Global Contact Center and a Help Desk to assist the kin of the victims and those injured in the mishap.”
