In Kerala, the IMD has issued an orange alert in six districts of the state today, indicating the possibility of very high rainfall. The districts include the hilly Wayanad and Idukki, besides Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Tomorrow, a red alert indicating extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur. An orange alert is in place for Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, and Kasaragod. The IMD has also issued a high-wave alert in several coastal regions of Kerala. A similar alert has been issued in Agatti, Amini, Androth, Kavaratti, and the Minicoy islands of Lakshadweep. Fishermen have been asked to refrain from venturing into the sea.
