J&K: Terrorists Attack Air Force Convoy In Poonch; Search Operation On

Two security vehicles of Air Force were fired upon by terrorists in Shashidhar area of Mendhar sub division of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that some terrorists attacked on two vehicles of Air Force, in which five soldiers of IAF were injured. Of the five injured, one airman is reportedly critical. The injured soldiers have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
 
Reinforcement was rushed to the area and counter-terror operations are underway. The firing incident was reported from Sanai village of Surankote. Some bullet shots were fired on the vehicles in high altitude area Sanai top connecting Gursai area in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district. At least a dozen bullet holes were seen on the windscreen of the vehicle that came under fire. There was no immediate report of any casualty. More details are awaited.
 
This is the first major attack on the armed forces this year in the region which witnessed a series of terror attacks on the army last year. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has started cordon and search operations in the area.
