Heavy rains lash various parts of South Gujarat, especially in Navsari and Valsad district on Saturday. Torrential rains led to water logging in low-lying areas of Navsari, Valsad, and Narmada districts affecting the road traffic.
Widespread rainfall was recorded in South Gujarat region. Gandevi in Navsari district recorded the highest six inches of rainfall during the day while Khergam, Valsad, Vapi, Chikhli, Umbergaon, recorded more than 4 inches of rainfall during the day. Heavy showers led to closures of nearly 40 roads in Rural parts of Navsari district. Normal life was affected in Valsad district due to the waterlogging at many places. The water level of the Madhuban dam on the Daman Ganga river in the district rose significantly. One casualty has been reported in Valsad district due to rains. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the state over the next five days. Heavy to heavy rains are expected in many parts of coastal districts including Navsari Valsad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath along with Dadara Nagar Haveli and Daman over the five days.
