Heavy rains continued to lash South Gujarat region for the last two days. Surat, Bharuch and Narmada districts received very heavy rainfall during last 24 hours. Umarpada in Surat district recorded more than 13 inches of rainfall in just six hours yesterday. IMD has issued a red alert for eight districts of Gujarat today.
Widespread rainfall was recorded in Gujarat yesterday with more than 200 tehsils received light to heavy showers in the last 24 hours. Water level in major dams and rivers has been increased due to new inflow of water Heavy rainfall disrupted the normal life in Surat, Bharuch and Narmada districts. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in eight districts of the State such as Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari in South Gujarat while Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu in Saurashtra region. The state has received around 30 percent of total seasonal rainfall so far.
