In Haryana, Safidon Crime Investigation Agency of Jind District has arrested 2 accused with about 9 quintals of Poppy pod (Doda) and Poppy husk. The cost of the recovered Poppy pod (Doda) /husk is being estimated to be between 37 to 40 lakh rupees.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sundarpal alias Sindar, resident of village Ghabdan of District Sangrur and Rinku Singh, resident of village Badrukha of District Sangrur in Punjab. At present, they were living in a rented house in Babar Mohalla of Rohtak and they had rented a house from a person named Suresh near Nirjan village and had kept Poppy pod and poppy husk in it for smuggling.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rohtas Dhull said that on the basis of information, the house of Suresh, a resident of Nirjan, was searched in the presence of Duty Magistrate Devendra Kumar and 8 plastic sacks were found in a room inside the house, on opening them, 7 sacks of Poppy Pod and one sack of Poppy husk were recovered. Poppy husk was also recovered from 60 sacks lying in the other room. The total weight of the recovered Poppy Pod/husk is 898 kg. During interrogation, the accused told that they had bought this poppy pod / husk from Chhattisgarh for about Rs 30 lakh.
