Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj today directed all hospitals in Delhi to complete their fire audit by the 8th of next month. Holding a meeting in Delhi with health officials in regard to the recent fire at a neonatal hospital in Vivek Vihar, Mr. Bhardwaj said that the Delhi government had already asked all private and government hospitals for a fire audit on the 8th of this month. He said that the compliance report will have to be submitted to the Health Department of Delhi Government by 8th June 2024. Mr Bhardwaj also informed that it is mandatory for all nursing homes and hospitals to obtain a Fire NOC. Earlier, hospitals having a height of less than nine meters operated without Fire NOC.
Meanwhile, in view of the heat conditions, the Delhi Health Minister has directed to reserve two beds in each hospital for patients suffering from heatstroke in 26 Government hospitals in Delhi. Additionally, five beds will be reserved in LNJP Hospital.
BJP on the other hand has held the Delhi government responsible for the accident. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva alleged that the hospital did not meet the required standards, yet the administration had approved it.
