Heavy rain lashed most parts of Tripura during the past 24 hours under the influence of cyclonic storm Remal, causing disruption to normal life. The incessant rain has caused wreckage in low-lying areas and cropping fields were submerged. The IMD also forecast scattered rainfall with gusty winds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour till tomorrow. The gusty wind may intermittently reach 80 kilometers per hour.
Caused by incessant showers till early morning today, the capital city witnessed disruption of life due to power cuts and waterlogging in most prime locations. Meanwhile, officials said services of trains and flights, which were partially canceled on Monday due to bad weather, resumed today. In the downpour in many locations, power supply and internet were badly disrupted for long hours. However, there is no report of major losses of properties anywhere.
