In Odisha, high voltage campaign is on for the six Parliament constituencies, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur, and 42 Assembly seats coming under their purview. The constituencies are going for polls in the seventh and last phase of general elections on 1st June.
BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik held a public meeting at Barua under Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituencies. The prestigious Kendrapara Parliamentary constituency is all set to witness a fierce electoral battle in this phase of polls between two-time Lok Sabha MP and BJP’s National Vice-President Baijayant Panda and BJD’s Anshuman Mohanty. Similarly, Balasore Lok Sabha is also going for a big fight among former Union Ministers Pratap Chandra Sarangi of BJP and Srikant Jena of Congress and Lekhashree Samantsinghar of the BJD. Many state ministers in the Naveen Patnaik government and sitting MLAs are in the fray in the Assembly elections.
Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah are scheduled to visit Odisha this week again to campaign for the party nominees for the twin elections in the state. Mr Shah will visit Odisha tomorrow and address three public meetings at Chandbali, Korei and Nimapara. Prime Minister Modi will visit Odisha on 29th of this month and address public meetings at Baripada, Balasore and Kendrapara. Similarly, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will also campaign in Odisha on 29th of this month. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at Simulia on 30th of this month.
