In Uttar Pradesh, army has been called in for help in rescue and relief operation. Central Surya command sent two columns to Shahjahanpur district for help in rescue work. There is cute more than 264 people trapped in the current of Garra and khannaut rivers. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is visiting the flood affected areas of Shravasti and Balrampur districts of Tarai region today.
Akashvani correspondent reports, 633 villages of 12 districts are reeling under the flood fury. The districts are Lakhimpur Khiri, Sitapur, Pilibhit, Shravasti, Balrampur, Basti, Barabanki, Gonda, Ballia, Siddharth Nagar, Shahjahanpur and Kushinagar. Thousands of acres of agricultural land is inundated in water due to flood and around 8 lakh people are affected. Rail route connecting Mailani junction to Gonda is submerged while Elgin road bridge connecting Barabanki to Gonda, Bahraich and other Nepal bordering districts has developed cracks. More than 10 thousand people have been shifted to secure locations by the rescue and relief teams.
