In women’s cricket, India defeated South Africa by 10 wickets to register its biggest win in T20Is against Proteas during the third and final T20 match of the series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India completed the 85-run chase in just 10.5 overs, surpassing its previous best win in 11 overs or 66 balls in 2021 against South Africa. This crucial victory enabled India to level the series 1-1 after the second match was called off due to rain.
Pacer Pooja Vastrakar was declared Player of the Match. She was also announced player of the series in recognition of her outstanding performance throughout the series. Earlier, put into bat, South Africa set a winning target of just 85 runs for India after scoring 84 runs in 17.1 overs. India easily chased down the small target without losing any wickets. Opening batters Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten with 54 off 40 balls and Shafali Verma scored 27 off 25 balls.
