In Golf, India’s Rahil Gangjee secured a victory at the PKNS Selangor Masters in Malaysia despite a challenging final round. Starting the day with a comfortable five-shot lead, the 45-year-old finished at 8-under for the tournament, just edging out Deyen Lawson who shot a 69, finishing one shot behind.
Early in the game, Gangjee’s lead quickly vanished as he encountered difficulties, registering three bogeys in his first nine holes and adding another on the 10th. This allowed competitors like Runchanapong Youprayong, Marcus Lim, and Deyen Lawson to close the gap. However, Gangjee managed to regain his composure with crucial birdies on holes 12, 13, and 16, keeping him slightly ahead. Despite bogeying the final two holes, he held on to secure the victory, finishing with an overall score of 272, narrowly beating Lawson who ended at 273. Lim and Runchanapong tied for third place with rounds of 69. Saptak Talwar was the only other Indian to make the cut, finishing T-33rd after a final round that included three closing bogeys.
