Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government is giving top priority to the economic upliftment of tribals and the development of the tribal regions. Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects worth 1 thousand 970 crores at Vyara in the Tapi district of Gujarat today, Mr. Modi said the government is working for the sustainable development of the tribal region to ensure a bright future for the tribal youths. PM said the BJP government has brought a massive change in the lives of tribal people by ensuring water and electricity supply to the tribal homes. He said the Jyotirgram scheme which was aimed at ensuring a 24*7 electricity supply was first implemented in Dang, which is a tribal district.He talked about a series of schemes the Gujarat Government has launched for the welfare of tribals including ‘Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana’ and ‘Vadi Scheme’. He said the government has set up more the 10 thousand schools in the tribal belt of the state along with two dedicated tribal universities.PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the improvement of the highway network connecting the hill station Saputara with the Statue of Unity to ensure the economic welfare of tribes through tourism. PM also laid the foundation stone for the construction of missing road links and water supply projects in Tapi and Narmada districts.
