Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region & Cooperation, B L Verma arrived at Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir today. The Union Minister is visiting District Anantnag as part of the public outreach programme of the Central Government.The Minister today visited Sun temple at Martand and was apprised of the rich history of the Temple which is the oldest of the three Sun Temples in the country. He also interacted with the employees and local populace and gave a patient hearing to them. Interacting with the media, Mr Verma informed that it is his second tour to the district.He said, he is very happy to see that the people are aware of the benefits being extended to them through various schemes and observed that the efforts of various departments aimed at providing responsive governance to the people is evident on ground. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken various steps for the welfare of the common man and rapid development. He said, the Union Government is committed to the development of the Union Territory and any assistance required will also be extended. He maintained that under the able guidance of the Prime Minister, every possible effort is being made for welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and for transforming the Union Territory through rapid development.
