PM Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana reduces patients’ out-of-pocket expenditure with savings of Rs 18,000 cr for citizens in last 8 years

Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana has significantly reduced patients’ out-of-pocket expenditure with savings of 18,000 crore rupees for the citizens in the last 8 years. In a tweet, Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said, government is committed to ensuring good quality and affordable healthcare for all.The scheme was launched in 2008 to provide quality medicines at affordable prices. It ensures easy reach of affordable medicine to the people in every nook and corner of the country. More than 8,700 Jan Aushadhi stores have been opened across the country, covering almost every district. The government has set a target to increase the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras to 10,500 by the end of March 2025.
