Spectrum auction held to meet new spectrum requirement of Telecom Service Providers and for renewal of expiring licenses for continuity and growth of mobile services has concluded successfully. Ministry of Communications said all the available spectrum in 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz bands were put to auction. This year auction has seen activity in 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2500 MHz bands. The Auction started 10 AM yesterday and concluded at 11:45 AM today after 7 rounds.
Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia in a statement said Spectrum auction 2024 was part of a continuous allocation process that is transparent, robust and progressive. He said TSPs have taken spectrum not only for continuity of service but for expanding their services but the volume is limited because already a large part of the spectrum required was auctioned last year. He stated that Ministry will continue the process with the clear objective of ensuring reliability and growth of telecom services in India.
